Posters are for promoting awareness of the genocide of 7-10 million* Ukrainians are for promoting awareness of the genocide of 7-10 million* Ukrainians These 9'x14" posters (below) may be used freely for Ukrainian Famine publicity, but must include Olga Kaczmar name & copyright with each use. If you are going to print large quantities, e-mail me for a CD of 300 dpi files, rather than use these 72 dpi jpegs. I can edit the copy to reflect changes in dates as needed. are the reasons for the large discreptancy between 7 and 10 million?
Soviet figures are notoriously unreliable - this cover up was of enormous proportions. By 1932 almost all sources of reliable statistics were systematically destroyed. In his plan to "Russify" (homogenize and blend) all the countries that were under his control, Stalin routinely ordered replacements of population from all over USSR to the villages which were decimated by the famine. Although census shows a population loss of about 7 million, these census figures includes all the new people who were brought in to fill up the 'dead' villages.
"If anyone has questions about why genocide, they should look at two statistics, particularly Joseph Stalin's census of 1929 and Brezhnev's in1979. We started with the Ukrainian nation numbering 81 million and ended up with 42 million [39 million missing persons]From an interview with Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko By Mykola SIRUK, The Day and other correspondents The Day Weekly Digest #34, Tuesday, 13 November 2007
Winston Churchill to Joseph Stalin:
"... Have the stresses of the war been as bad to you personally as carrying through the policy of the Collective Farms?"
"Oh, no, the Collective Farm policy was a terrible struggle... Ten million [he said, holding up his hands]. It was fearful. Four years it lasted. It was absolutely necessary..."

Once back in New York, Duranty confided to a fellow reporter, "probably 10 million Ukrainians died" during the great famine of 1932-33.
"Mr. Duranty thinks it quite possible that as many as 10 million people may have died directly or indirectly from lack of food in the Soviet Union during the past year."_46_
46. FO.371/17253 N 7182. The record of Strang's dispatch in the Foreign Office files bears several annotations. It is marked "For distribution to the King, the Cabinet and the Dominions"; it bears the stamp "Circulated to the Cabinet by direction of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs"; and it contains a note saying "Paragraph 13 is horrifying - particularly coming from Mr. Duranty." (Paragraph 13 is the one in which Duranty's estimate of 10 million dead is reported.) But this leads us to other questions: how much Whitehall knew about the famine, why it chose to refer to it publicly as an "illegal famine," and why it brushed off all requests for appeals to the Soviet government.
Purposeful disinformation about the numbers and why its important:
The Russian Service wants to downplay the magnitude / coverup and make this population loss to appear to be one of bad economic policy rather than a deliberate genocide, with the intent to eradicate the Ukrainian people and repopulate Ukraine with Russians. The protocols instructing horrendous acts at that time are on Stalin's public record.
Fact 1. – Archives relating to Ukrainian Catholic Church in the former Soviet Union were falsified and the fact proved a number of times
Fact 2. - Ukraine Security Service Archives (SBU) are open and the Unclassified Memories of 1932-33 are now on public display. Recent requests from the SBU to the Russian Service to do likewise have fallen on deaf ears.
Still in 2009, the coverup persists with research panels taking the side of the the Russian Service. "Whilst claiming not to get politically involved, Wheatcroft (Professor Stephen Wheatcroft - the University of Melbourne) screamed at the audience, ‘Look at this!’ holding up the Holodomor brochure prepared by Ukraine – stating something to the effect, ‘It says 6-10 million, when your own Institute of Demography says 3.5 million perished. This in unhelpful propaganda!’ " *

The first country to call the famine of 1932-33 "genocide" was the United States, in 1988.
, Stalin, Trotsky, and all Stalin’s collectivization team were
“Perpetrated by Soviet Communists well prior to the Holocaust, the Holodomor and other “historically necessary” left-wing exterminations like it in the early Soviet sphere were principally designed and implemented by Jewish Bolsheviks such as Lazar Kaganovich and Genrikh Yagoda, in part to crush "anti-Semitism" (but in reality, crush opposition to Judeofascist-serving rackets like Bolshevism)."
“And us, the Jews? An Israeli student finishes high school without ever hearing the name "Genrikh Yagoda," the greatest Jewish murderer of the 20th Century, the GPU's deputy commander and the founder and commander of the NKVD. Yagoda diligently implemented Stalin's collectivization orders and is responsible for the deaths of at least 10 million people. His Jewish deputies established and managed the Gulag system. After Stalin no longer viewed him favorably, Yagoda was demoted and executed, and was replaced as chief hangman in 1936 by Yezhov, the "bloodthirsty dwarf."
Yezhov was not Jewish but was blessed with an active Jewish wife. In his Book "Stalin: Court of the Red Star", Jewish historian Sebag Montefiore writes that during the darkest period of terror, when the Communist killing machine worked in full force, Stalin was surrounded by beautiful, young Jewish women.
Stalin's close associates and loyalists included member of the Central Committee and Politburo Lazar Kaganovich. Montefiore characterizes him as the "first Stalinist" and adds that those starving to death in Ukraine, an unparalleled tragedy in the history of human kind aside from the Nazi horrors and Mao's terror in China, did not move Kaganovich.”
on Yanukovych 2010 declaration that this was not a genocide:
Winnipeg, Canada-May 12, 2010- 1.2 million Canadians trace their roots to Ukraine - the second largest Ukrainian community outside of Ukraine. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress is is deeply distraught by President Yanukovych's recent remark diminishes the enormous suffering of the Ukrainian people in the Holodomor, by saying it was a consequence of Stalin's totalitarian regime, rather than a genocide.
This position is contrary to the law of Ukraine, the vast body of recent academic research based on original Soviet archives in Ukraine, the position of the previous Ukrainian government, the current Government of Canada, the Ukrainian World Congress and the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, instead putting it in accord with Russia's interpretation.
The famine was largely engineered by the Soviet regime of Joseph Stalin, and it was so extreme and purposeful in Ukraine that it can reasonably be called an act of ethnic genocide. In terms of its cost in human lives, the famine was the most costly of all genocidal operation of Stalin and the Communist Party. It targeted the destruction of the Ukrainian intelligentsia/Ukrainian national elites. What happened in Ukraine respects the definition of Genocide in the UN Convention.
The areas outside Ukraine where the famine took place were largely populated by Ukrainians. Dr. Raphael Lemkin, the father of the United Nations genocide convention, declared that the Holodomor was a genocide as it involved "the destruction, not of individual only, but of a culture and a nation." The genocidal nature of the Holodomor is enshrined in Ukrainian law as it is in a great number of countries around the world, including Canada.
